About Us
Life's for Living (formerly known as Housing Connexion Inc.) is a unique and innovative support service that was established in 1987 through the endeavours of a committed group of parents, professionals and the Intellectual Disability Services Council.
We operate in Adelaide, South Australia and assist people with a diverse range of disabilities (including sensory impairments) and people with complex needs who require varying levels of support to live a life that is similar to their peers.
What do we do?
- Provide an individualised support service whether the person lives in the family home or has their own place
- Support people to control their own lives
- Support families to make effective decisions regarding their relative moving out of home
- Support, encourage and nurture family relationships and friendships.
- Involve the individual to increase their skills and independence
- Design and administer services in a manner that is sensitive to the individual’s unique needs
- Teach daily living skills e.g. home maintenance, money management, shopping, meal planning, health and self care.
- Ensure the developmental needs of individuals are met through the provision of ongoing life skills training which includes enhancing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
- Promote community involvement and integration.
- Support individuals to be aware of their rights and to be aware of Life's for Living's responsibilities to them.
- Work in partnership with the person, their family and other significant people and organisations to assist and support individuals to further their chosen goals
- Use visual communication tools extensively to support understanding, decision making and choice and promote independence
- Use an Annual Planning system that is client centred and involves the people most important to the individual.
- Ensure we have a well-trained and well supported workforce
